Local Signal to Publish Its First Findings This Autumn

MJRC will publish the first batch of findings from Local Signal: Mapping How Communities Get Informed in autumn 2026.

The project examines how information travels within local communities, looking beyond traditional news outlets to include public institutions, civic and cultural organizations, political actors, sports clubs, creators, community events and businesses.

The first local dossiers will cover Oviedo, Chichester, The Hague, Hamburg, Travemünde, Liepāja and Pärnu. Combining structured online research with local fieldwork, they will identify who reaches local audiences, through which channels, and where important gaps or dependencies exist.

The new Local Signal project page explains the project’s methodology, data model and opportunities for collaboration.
