Minna Aslama Horowitz, a Docent at the University of Helsinki, who is an expert with the Media and Journalism Research Center, was part of a think tank that has recently issued a set of recommendations to protect and strengthen the democratic debate in the age of platforms in the Nordic countries.
The Think Tank of the Nordic Council of Ministers, of which Dr Horowitz is a member, is a temporary think tank established in 2021 by the Nordic Council of Miniters of Culture to address the influence of Big Tech on democratic debate in the Nordic countries. The organization aims to address platformization in the Nordics, namely “the penetration of infrastructures, economic processes and governmental frameworks of digital platforms in different economic sectors and spheres of life.”
Dr Horowitz is one of the 13 members of the think tank appointed in May 2022. They come from all over the Nordic Region: Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, Greenland, Faroe Islands and Aland.
