1. Preamble
The Media and Journalism Research Center (MJRC) DAO exists to support the independence, integrity, and innovation of media and journalism research through a decentralized, transparent, and community-governed model. This Constitution outlines the governance, responsibilities, and rights of all participants in the MJRC DAO.
2. Objectives
- Fund and coordinate research in media freedom, digital governance, and journalism ethics
- Enable global participation in shaping research priorities
- Publish research on decentralized and censorship-resistant platforms
- Reward contributors and collaborators via the MJRC token
3. Governance
MJRC DAO governance is executed via on-chain voting and off-chain deliberation. Decisions may include grant approvals, research topics, funding distributions, and partnership onboarding.
- Voting Power: Based on MJRC token holdings
- Proposals: Submitted by any token holder; must meet quorum and voting period rules
- Execution: Approved proposals are enforced via DAOhaus smart contracts and Gnosis Safe
4. Membership
Membership is open to researchers, journalists, donors, and supporters who hold MJRC tokens or participate in DAO activities. MJRC promotes inclusion, transparency, and ethical engagement.
5. Treasury Management
The MJRC DAO treasury is managed through a Gnosis Safe multisig wallet and is used to fund:
- Research grants
- Public interest investigations
- Platform development and infrastructure
Treasury activity is fully transparent and auditable.
6. Amendments
This Constitution may be amended by a supermajority vote (e.g., 66%) of MJRC token holders via Snapshot.Last updated: June 2025 · This is a living document governed by the MJRC community.
