New Routledge Volume on Public Service Media Governance Co-Edited by MJRC Director Coming Soon
A new book, Governance Models in Public Service Media, will be published by Routledge at the end of 2025. The volume is co-edited by our director, Marius Dragomir, together with Ana María López-Cepeda and Carmen Costa-Sánchez.
Governance Models in Public Service Media explores how European public service media can adapt their governance frameworks to a rapidly evolving media landscape that is shaped by new legal, financial, and technological challenges, while preserving their public mission and social value.
The book brings together an international team of experts that examine how governance bodies have evolved in recent years, particularly in relation to independence and participation. This first chapter examines various governance models from several European countries such as Sweden, Spain, Italy, France, and Portugal. It then investigates governance practices across European public service media—touching on areas such as AI, reputation, and innovation—before concluding with an in-depth discussion of sustainability and funding models for PSM.
The book is included in the Routledge Studies in Media and Cultural Industries book series and can be pre-order here.
